Our difference
Classical curriculum
At the heart of our curriculum is a great books program, which exposes students to enduring, classical works of literature and philosophy from around the world. Through immersion in this great tradition, students become conversant with the past. They acquire cultural and historical literacy, learn to inhabit diverse perspectives, and engage deeply with life’s fundamental questions.
Focus on character
We believe that the pursuit of moral excellence is the noblest of human ambitions. As such, we aim to help students become knowledgeable and well-rounded individuals of exemplary character, embodying honesty (with themselves and others); compassion; service; discipline and self-mastery; gratitude; and a capacity to endure life’s trials with grace and fortitude.
Teacher-led classrooms
Students will benefit from a knowledge-rich curriculum, taught through explicit instruction in teacher-led classrooms. These are shown to improve academic outcomes, and to engender a love of learning. By building a strong foundation in factual content knowledge, and by engaging in open dialogue and inquiry, students develop their ability to think creatively, reason clearly, and judge correctly.
Smartphone-free environment
Although our curriculum will feature a robust science component, we aim to use technology in a minimal, deliberate manner in the classroom, and exclude smartphones from campus. This approach responds to a growing body of research that excessive exposure to screens and social media damages childrens’ concentration and negatively impacts mental health.
Outdoor programs
Outdoor education is an important part of our approach. Through day and overnight trips, students will have opportunities to study the natural sciences, learn about sustainability, build camaraderie and resilience, acquire valuable skills, and experience a sense of wonder and awe at the majesty of the natural world.
Fine and performing arts
Students will have opportunities to both experience and partake in a range of classical art forms, including music, drama, poetry, dance, painting and sculpting. Encounters with beautiful works of art open the soul to the possibility of transcendence, while the rigour of classical arts training tempers the mind and refines the heart.
